At the Mead School, we know that a huge range of skills and concepts can be taught and learnt within the classroom environment. We also recognise that there are many areas of learning and development – both social and academic, that can be promoted and generated outside of the school environment.

Through well planned and organised educational visits, Mead children have a real ‘hands on’ opportunity to observe, investigate and learn. Our diverse programme of visits includes Science Centres, Galleries and Museums – both local and in the Capital, Castles, Geographical Field-Trips, Zoos and working Farms. Children of all ages absorb the experiences from these days out. The children absorb these experiences cementing new concepts and skills within their long term memory.

Exploring during our School Holiday in Keswick

The annual school holiday gives children the opportunity to leave home for a week and experience a fun-packed, child-centered adventure. The Year 6 (J4) children take part in a field trip to the Isle of Wight in the Autumn Term of their final year at The Mead. During this important year, they also have the opportunity to try their hand at windsurfing – great fun for those who have never participated in this sport before!

Our annual Family skiing holiday is extremely popular. Year on year it is fully booked and thoroughly enjoyed by all!
