What Makes a Meadite
THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION……
At the heart of a Mead School Education lies the development of the personal and social characteristics of each child, both within the school and the community at large. These characteristics are fostered through a range of experiences......

Church Links
We are a designated Christian school and have close links to our local church - King Charles the Martyr. We attend end of term services here, as well as using church for our christmas carol service and the J4 leavers service
at the end of the summer term.
Our children enjoy the vicar's participation in a number of our school assemblies through the year.
| Assemblies - We enjoy a vast range of assemblies, taken by the headmistress and by various members of staff. We have visitors who give the children first hand experiences and memories. Individual classes rise to the challenge of taking their own assembly in front of the School! |
Sports Day - Our Sports Day is a sensational opportunity for every child to show what they can achieve on the sports field. Enjoyed as much by supporting parents and family, as by the children, this fixture in our school calendar is second to none. |
| Charity Fundraising-
Our children are caring. We support a range of charities through activities arranged within the House System. Individual children may take the reins in organising a particular event for a cause close to their heart. At times classes chose a focus for fund raising. Most recently a J2 class held an odd sock day. This was to raise money to support the victims of the earthquake in Java.

| “Our School Song gives us a sense of pride.”

| Musical Events-
At The Mead School we enjoy a range of musical events. Concerts held both at school and in other location. A large range of individual and group specialist instrument tuition, wind band and our strings group are just a taster of the varied musical life of this school

| “Our school has excellent discipline, and it is the combination of care and support combined with discipline, which create the happy environment in which the children develop.” |
“Confidence is nurtured through acceptance and performance” |
School Trips
Science centres, working farms, wildlife centres, museums, galleries, fields trips, the seaside, windsurfing……
This is just a taste of the trips and outings that Mead children experience |

Sports
Children encounter a diversity of sporting opportunity at The Mead. All areas of our sporting curriculum are specialist taught and children quickly grow in confidence and ability. |
School Council
Each class elects two representatives to stand on the School Council. This enables children to have a ‘voice’ – to give opinions on issues within their own school. |
School Holidays
The Year 6 enjoys an annual School Holiday/Study Trip. A family skiing trip and Summer Activity holiday are enjoyed by many! |

“As a staff we take time and care to get to know our children well. It is a priority.” |
Prize Giving and the Summer Show
The celebration of personal achievement culminates in our Prize Giving Ceremony at the end of the Summer Term.
Another truly special feature of the Summer Term for all Meadites, is the performance of our Summer Show performed at The Trinity Arts Centre. Always lavishly staged and performed to an excellent standard. This event showcases the huge expertise of our Drama Department. |
“Good communication with parents is essential as is a strong working relationship, which is important for children to recognise.” |
A Caring Ethos
Whenever a child joins The Mead School they become part of our special family.
The children who come to us aged three know no different and take this environment and atmosphere to be the norm. Children who come later quickly absorb our ethos.
To be a Meadite is something special . This reflects the way in which we treat and recognise each child within our school environment. |
