Mead

The Mead has made me feel safe and friendly; there are no bullies here, everybody doesn’t get into big gangs and leave people out.  When I first came to The Mead everybody greeted me and I felt this was really the school for me.  There’s a friendly environment, and all the teachers from maths to P.E. sort out whatever problem you have.  They make you feel really happy, when they give you a Sport or Games Captain badge and the School Council try and make the school a better place, which I feel is great. The Mead is just a great place.  I’ve never felt so happy in school before.

I think this school is great.  Sport is really good fun and since I came here I’ve got so much better.  This school is extremely welcoming.  When I came here for a tryout day my class showed me every part of the school and I really though I was permanently here.  Meadites have to be kind and generous, always looking out for one another, taking care of other people’s property and looking after little ones.

I’ve been to 4 schools and this is definitely the best.   I have had so many achievements here, passing the 11+ which I would never have passed if I hadn’t come to this school, being named as the Sports Captain twice!  I wasn’t so good at most sports until I came here.  And one other thing I would like to achieve is to win the Sports Cup and Swimming Cup.

Quotes

Year 6
(J4)

I think that what made me a Meadite was when I was trying to get the idea by just saying yes and then as soon as the teacher stopped I would not get the question.  I would then go back to the teacher saying I don’t get it. Over the years at The Mead I think I have stopped doing this and now I listen.  When I first came here at The Mead I could not hit a ball or kick the ball, but now I love my sport and I am good at all the sports and I try my hardest to get into matches against the other schools.  At The Mead I have achieved being able to read and write properly and being in the football team. In Year 4 I got a prize for the most improved person and was a Sports Captain in the second term of Year 6.

Our golden rule “Do unto others as you want them to do to you” I was house captain at the beginning of the year and in the last term was games captain. Our motto “Once a Meadite, always a Meadite”.

If you like going on School trips then The Mead would be the school for you because of the wide range of activities you can do and the fun you can have.

  • I have learned more in a smaller class
  • There are more choices for me in after school activities
  • I found people I can share my feelings with others
  • I have improved in my running from last year when I got 7.49 to this year when I got 6.97

While I was at The Mead I achieved passing my 11+ and getting into Tunbridge Wells Boys’ Grammar School, the school I always wanted to get in to.

The Mead has taught me a lot.  Not just schoolwork though.  The Mead has taught me how to behave and to accept people for who they are.  The Mead has given me responsibility and taught me how to accept it.  I will miss The Mead when I leave.  So, all parents looking for a school for their child pick The Mead!

  • I’ve scored a hat-trick in the Mead football cup
  • I’ve been Thackeray Sports Captain
  • I also like playing football with my friends

I really like The Mead because it’s a nice, friendly school and I got to know everyone quite quickly.  I learned at the Mead that if you are kind  to others they will be kind to you and now I have loads of friends.  In fact The Mead has helped me and two of my friends to pass the Bethany exam and now we’re all going to Bethany together.  The wonderful Mead.  I love it here.

Things The Mead has given me

  • courage to say what I think is right

  • space to work on my talents
  • some of the best friends I think that I’ll ever meet

“Nasty things about The Mead - N/A”

The Mead has made me confident and now I am ready to go on to my secondary school.  All the teachers are really nice and I will miss them.  Everyone is really kind to you and there is a really happy environment to be taught in.  I have learnt a lot over my nine years here at The Mead or you could say I have learnt a lot of lessons here, but most of all I have achieved most of the things I only thought about in some dreams and I have now a Games Captain badge and a School Council badge and a place in Bennett Memorial School.

  • Meadites are honest
  • Meadites are kind
  • Meadites are helpful

All Meadites are unique, but then they are all the same in the way they act, the way they treat others and the way they approach new things.  This is a story of someone who was a true Meadite to me.  Before I came to The Mead I used to live in America and when you’re younger moving to a new country and a new school with lots of new people can be very scary.
I arrived on my first day and a girl called Paris was sent to show my mum and me to the Reception classroom.  I was extremely scared and was clinging onto my mum.  I ended up sitting next to a girl named Ellie who is still in my class and still one of my best friends.  Anyway, when it was time for break I had great fun and started to settle in.  We were lining up at the end of break and Paris (the girl who showed us in) said hello and asked how I was.  I replied, saying “I’m alright” and left hoping I would see her again.
The following morning I walked in and started crying because I didn’t want my mum to leave.  But there was Paris standing next to me saying it would be alright.  When my mum left, Paris gave me a hug and led me outside.  She was always looking out for me.  It may not sound like much, but to me it meant so much and I carried on in the Mead.  I have achieved a lot at The Mead academically and personally, I have made, I think, the most of my time at The Mead.

I have achieved a pass in my 11+ and got to the school I wanted.  I have become house captain and games captain.  They help you to understand; they make sure you do.  This school gives you confidence.  When you leave for secondary school they have prepared you so you are ready to go on.

The Mead has made me clever and if I had stayed at one of my old prep schools I would not have passed the exam for Bethany, my secondary school. I have got friends going to the same secondary school.  The Mead has made me love sport.  Before I hated sport but now I will play football and I will enjoy games.  I also got better at art and DT and drawing.  I have loved The Mead and I am glad that I moved school again.

I think this is a kind school and no I am not lying!  I think that this school is kind and actually listens to you, unlike other schools that don’t.  Whenever you’re in trouble there’s always someone that can help you.  Kind teachers and people help build your confidence for when you finally leave The Mead and venture out into the big world.  I mean, yes it is sad when  you go but you will make new friends.
