The House System

All children from Reception Infants are placed in one of three houses:  Thackeray (Yellow), Chalybeate (Green), and Wellington (Red).  Most members of staff are also associated with a house.  House meetings are held instead of assemblies on Thursday mornings.

House points are earned by the children through the school’s ‘Good Work’ system. Children are also able to earn house points through their achievements in the schools’ Swimming Gala, Sports Day and Fundraising efforts.  The House system provides a linear link through the school and enables each child to develop a real feeling of team participation.  The members of staff who are linked to the different houses play an important pastoral role, promoting and supporting the school mission statement.  It is also an opportunity for Year 6 children to develop their leadership qualities and responsibility to others.
