The Mead School Council

It is widely recognised that one of the fundamental reasons for The Mead School being such a special place, is the contribution that each child brings to the life of the School. By having a School Council at The Mead, it shows every child to feel that they can have their say regarding everyday School issues which effect them!

In every class from Top Infants up to the J4’s (Year 6) inclusive, each class elects two representatives to stand on the school Council for the duration of a school year. Within the School Council Meetings, the children are able to raise any matters that have been brought to their attention by class peers. The Council will then decide on any possible actions that could be taken or strategies that could be put in place to help with a particular situation or issue.

In line with ‘real life’ meetings, minutes are taken by the J4 representatives and passed to Mrs Culley at the conclusion of the session. The joy of the School Council meetings is being able to allow the children a forum in which they can speak freely.

The School Council has made a positive contribution to the life of the school. One which all children at the Mead recognise and appreciate.
