Activities and Clubs

Our aim is for all children to experience and experiment with as wide a range of
activities as possible, both within and outside the classroom.
They can offer an opportunity for  the development of excellence.

Activities

Key Stage 1

Specialist ballet and Judo is offered through the Kindergarten and Infant Department.
Recorder groups start in Middle Infants (Year 1) and violin and piano lessons can be started in Top Infants (Year 2).

Key Stage 2

In addition to those activities started at Key Stage 1, woodwind instruments and guitar can be learned either individually or in groups.

Activity Hour 3.40 – 4.30 pm

A choice of activities is arranged and offered every evening.  Children select their options at the start of each term and learn to prioritise and compromise.  Staff plan activities for two nights each week and groups are generally drawn from all Key Stage 2 classes.
Clubs range from sport based activities – for example hockey and tennis, to clubs that explore the language and culture of other countries. Other clubs have a more practical, creative theme such as pottery, art based on literature, stained glass windows, needlecraft, board game making and construction club.

For those children staying at school for activities, the day ends with an hour of supervised prep.
